Once in the morning I'll manually click through my favorite blogs and then at night check the reader. (yep, I read blogs twice daily, lol) The layouts are nice, and sometimes people change their sidebars and stuff. Also - about the link love... I just realized that I read you every day but you weren't on my blogroll. Just added your blog now. :) I use google reader but also click through. I keep a list of the blogs I subscribe to and click through every so often. I miss the layouts too. Sometimes you can get an RSS feed that includes comments.
