Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and surprisingly our company is giving us the day off. (Well, technically it’s one of the 3 days we can choose to have free, and this happened to be the last opportunity for that before the year ends.) I was a little hesitant to take it, as we’re going through an awkward stage at work where no one wants to ask for days off for fear we’ll get our heads chopped off. (Speaking of which….I need to check out when I’m taking the rest of my vacation days….) Well, I spoke to my boss and she says since it’s a “use it or lose it” situation I might as well take it. So I am.
I don’t want to let the day go to waste (after all there’s plenty I should be doing at work) so I’m hoping to be super productive!! Here’s a list of all I want to get done:
1) Sleep in a tiny bit. Nothing crazy, like noon. But it’d be nice to sleep in until 7:30! Check! Slept until 8! It was awesome!
2) Work out. What I do depends on what I did on Tuesday night (I’m supposed to run). Went for a run, but wimped out when it got too hot.
3) Sort out my car insurance issues. I will either renew with my parents (although probably not, because it bothers me that while I’m on their policy my name doesn’t show up on the card as a “named insured”….isn’t that asking for trouble?), get a new policy with the same carrier (should be about the same price, but I’d need to officially change my address, which sounds like a hassle), or get a new policy with a new company (I’ve already received a quote from them, and it’s comparable). (Still need to take care of this)
4) Sort out my health insurance issues. Mainly finding out how much my BC is going to take from the deductible with the new insurance plan so that I know if I’m going to need a FSA this year. Unfortunately I will still need a FSA this year. My pills are getting much more expensive!
5) Call Comcast to find out about their internet rates/offers. (Yes, I’m still internetless.) Conclusion: I’m going with Comcast’s offer, but am still deciding if I should buy or rent a modem.
6) Watch some Gossip Girl! Yeah, just had to throw that in there. Check! It is such a soap opera! lol….I can’t believe I’m enjoying it…
7) Take some clothes to the drycleaners. Check! so expensive! I decided to go with the “eco-friendly” place instead of the cheap local place I used to go to….let’s hope I don’t lose any buttons this time!
8 ) Bake something? Didn’t do any baking, but that’s ok. I was plenty busy!
That sounds like a pretty full day, so I should stop there. Although I should throw some cleaning in there….that 2nd bedroom needs to be organized, and lots of junk needs to be thrown out!

I’m glad you took the day – I doubt they’re giving that much credit for missing vacation time.
Our customer (gov’t) is off today, but since we’re contractors, we are here. It’s hard to even accomplish anything!
